Our top two suggestions of the week, Philadelphia and Cleveland, put up respective fantasy performances with nine and seven points respectively. The Bengals suggestion really let us down however, but let's look past that. The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to every fantasy player. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.
The Eagles used three forced turnovers and three sacks to score nine fantasy points against the New York Giants to lead our suggestions from last week. Although allowing 34 points to the Bengals, the Browns used two take-aways and two sacks to post seven fantasy points. On the other side of that game, I also went with Cincinnati, who I suggested when the two teams played in Week 2. I should have learned from my previous mistakes, but the damage is done. I can’t go back.
Week 7 Results
Philadelphia Eagles vs. New York Giants - 9 points
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals - 7 points
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns - -2 points
Week 8 Suggestions
Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings - Owned in 20% of Yahoo and 9.2% of ESPN leagues
The good news for the Vikings, Dalvin Cook should return to action following a one game absence and a bye. The bad news for the Vikings, they aren’t a good football team. The main problem is, Kirk Cousins. Cousins is currently tied with Carson Wentz for the most interceptions (10) thrown thus far this season. He’s also been sacked 14 times, which is top ten in the league. This Packers defense is competent. They have some nice pieces. On top of all of that, the Vikings have allowed the ninth most fantasy points to opposing defenses.
Tennessee Titans at Cincinnati Bengals - Owned in 27% of Yahoo and 13.6% of ESPN leagues
The Bengals have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Part of this is due to the fact that Joe Burrow is tied as the most sacked quarterback in the league (28) with Carson Wentz. Burrow has also thrown five interceptions. Joe Mixon could miss the game as well, limiting the offense to having to strictly throw the ball. Burrow is a good quarterback, especially for a rookie, but he’s just that, a rookie. He’ll make mistakes. The Titans don’t get to the quarterback as they’re a bottom three team in terms of team sacks-per-game but average two takeaways per game, tied for best in the league.
Detroit Lions vs. Indianapolis Colts - Owned in 2% of Yahoo and 2.1% of ESPN leagues
Philip Rivers has thrown six interceptions thus far this season. He’s gone over 300 passing yards in two-of-six games (Jaguars and Bengals.) Beyond that, he’s thrown for less than 243 yards in four-of-six and under 217 in three-of-six. I’ve featured the Lions in this series several times and I’ve never fully benefited. However, we are required to play one defense that is owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and ESPN leagues. This Lions defense has good pieces. Their biggest downfall is below athletic linebackers. We’ll see how they fare this week with hosting the Colts.
