Fantasy Hockey Weekly Waiver Wire - Week 15

https://www.nhl.com/stars/news/dallas-stars-recall-forward-roope-hintz/c-303316748

Nico Hischier, C, New Jersey Devils (30%) - Continuing my New Jersey Devils love. The 2017 first overall pick hasn’t quite lived up to the hype. However, since the Devils traded Taylor Hall, Hischier has seen his uptick in ice time. Which has resulted in four goals and four assists over the last seven games. With three of those points coming on the power play. Over that span, Hischier is a modest -1 in the plus/minus department. But he has had success with face offs, winning 69% of draws. Hischier has the upside. The Devils just need to keep putting him in the right situations.

Week 15 Schedule: @TOR, @WAS and @CBJ

Ilya Kovalchuk, RW, Montreal Canadiens (23%) - The veteran sniper is off to a solid start with his new team. Notching three assists in his three games with the Habs. In those three games, Kovalchuk has logged ice times of 19:25, 21:22 and 18:38. He is also the Canadiens' power play specialist. Kovalchuk is worth the add, simply for his natural goal scoring ability. He makes a nice spot starter in your lineup for when other RWs are off.

Week 15 Schedule: vs. CGY, vs. CHI, @PHI and vs. VGK

Roope Hintz, LW/C, Dallas Stars (39%) - How do we not include a guy with the name Roope on this week’s waiver wire? Hintz is firing on all cylinders over the last six games. Despite averaging just 13:00 minutes per game, he has three goals, four assists, four power play points, is a +4 and is winning face offs over 50% of the time. Yes, he is center and left wing eligible in most leagues. As I’ve mentioned before, solid play leads to ice time. So, scoop Roope, not just for his name, but before his play leads to fame.

Week 15 Schedule: @COL, vs. BUF and @MIN

Tyler Myers, D, Vancouver Canucks (12%) - While his production doesn't seem to warrant an add at this point, remember, we were early on Anthony DeAngelo last week, who erupted for five points Thursday night versus the Devils. We are not saying Myers will have a five point night. This is just our humble brag moment on DeAngelo. Myers has four goals and three assists over his last five games. He also averages north of 21:00 per game. Myers has a heavy shot from the point and the opportunities are there.

Week 15 Schedule: @WPG, vs. ARI and vs. SJS

Esa Lindell, D, Dallas Stars (34%) - I guess this week I’m a Dallas Stars fan, as Lindell is the second Stars' player featured. Since the start of 2020 (four games) Lindell has seven assists, four of which came on the power play. Also, worth noting he is plus three over that span, with ice time totals of 21:41, 25:26, 24:23 and 22:45. Finding a worthy defensemen on waivers is always a tough task. Lindell is getting ample ice time and contributing with several helpers. Strike while the iron is hot!

Week 15 Schedule: @COL, vs. BUF and @MIN

Mike Smith, G, Edmonton Oilers (27%) - Coming off a win with 35 saves Thursday night versus Montreal, Smith may have turned the corner on his season. It has not been an idle season for the former workhorse goalkeeper. However, since the start of the new year, Smith is now 3-1 with a sub-par 3.00 GAA. His teammate Mikko Koskinen hasn’t been consistent as well. There seems to be a goalie carousel in Edmonton right now. Smith is certainly worth the add for Koskinen owners. Don’t be surprised if Smith goes on a nice run, compiling wins and saves over his next few starts. If you have a roster spot and need a goalie, take a shot on adding Smith before he hits that run.

Week 15 Schedule: vs. NSH and vs. ARI
