Fantasy Baseball - Waiver Wire (Week 7)

https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/twins-michael-pineda-suspended-60-games-after-testing-positive-for-performance-enhancing-drug-masking-agent/

After back-to-back weeks of delayed postings of my weekly Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Suggestions, I promised I’d be back on Sundays, and here I am. Each week Nate with We Know Fantasy will present at least five fantasy baseball waiver wire targets to add for the upcoming week. To qualify for this series, players must be owned in less than 40% of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues.

Last week we were headlined by Austin Riley, who made his second appearance of the season on this series. He hit 0.313 on the week while adding two homers and eight RBIS. Jeier Candelario hit 0.333 on the week and managed to hit one homer, five runs-batted-in and four runs of his own. Dakota Hudson was our top pitching suggestion of the week as he went seven innings, getting a win while allowing just one earned and totaling seven strikeouts.

Week 6 Results

Jeimer Candelario, 1B/3B, Detroit Tigers - 8/24, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R

Mike Fiers, SP, Oakland Athletics - 5 IP, 3 ER, 4 K

Austin Riley, 3B/OF, Atlanta Braves - 10/32, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 5 R

Dakota Hudson, SP, St. Louis Cardinals - 7 IP, 1 W, 1 ER, 7 K

Jon Berti, 2B/3B/SS/OF, Miami Marlins - 4/20, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 3 R

Week 7 Suggestions

Michael Pineda, SP, Minnesota Twins - Owned in 26% of Yahoo and 23.1% of ESPN leagues

The offering of Pineda comes on the back of two quality match-ups for the upcoming scoring week. He gets the Tigers and Indians over the next seven days. In his first outing of the 2020 season against the White Sox, Pineda went six innings where he allowed just two runs and struck out two. As the Twins obviously put trust into Pineda, after going six in his season debut, we can expect he’ll go deep in the great match-ups against the Tigers and Indians.

Tommy Hunter, RP, Philadelphia Phillies - Owned in 4% of Yahoo and 2.6% of ESPN leagues

This is a bit of a different suggestion. For the first six weeks, we have yet to suggest the addition of a closer, let alone a relief pitcher. Tommy Hunter makes our list for the large number of games the Phillies have yet to play this season. On top of that, Hunter has not allowed an earned run in his last five outings, which spanned 5.2 innings. In category leagues where ERA is a factor, Hunter could be your ideal candidate, as he’ll continue to see work, adding to your innings pitcher counter along the way.

Rowdy Tellez, 1B, Toronto Blue Jays - Owned in 6% of Yahoo and 10.5% of ESPN leagues

Rowdy Tellez makes our list as the Blue Jays prepare to enter a six-game stretch in their make-shift home field in Buffalo. Where Tellez comes into play, when the Blue Jays have been the home team, he has five homers and 13 RBIs while hitting .868 slugging percentage and 1.293 OPS. Those numbers came in just 12 game and can’t be ignored.

Trevor Richards, SP, Tampa Bay Rays - Owned in 2% of Yahoo and 1.7% of ESPN leagues

At this rate, anyone in the Rays’ rotation, I want a part of. They just seem to have an ability in finding quality starters out of anywhere. Richards has seen only two starts this season where he’s only allowed two runs in each outing. Richards is also slated to start two games this week. He’ll see the struggling Washington Nations and the Boston Red Sox in the next seven days. Look for Richards to be a quality streaming option for the rest of the season.

Jesus Aguilar, 1B, Miami Marlins - Owned in 11% of Yahoo and 18.5% of ESPN leagues

Aguilar is only the second player to see a repeat feature in this series. He gets another boost as Starling Marte has joined the team. He missed five games before returning for one game against the Blue Jays and a series with the Tampa Bay Rays. In the series with the Rays, he had three hits, one homer, two RBIs and scored four times. As he gets back into the swing of things, playing every day, with Marte hitting before him, expect Aguilar to have a strong finish to the season.
