Man, it sure is tough to do well when your quarterback scores less than 10 fantasy points. That’s exactly what happened during last week’s B-Team when Kyle Allen put up a stinker, going for just 9.4 points. It wasn’t an awful week, as I didn’t have any breakout performances outside of Ross Dwelley. Again, let’s hope we can get closer to our goal this week with the picks we have lined up. The B-Team series is one where I create a hypothetical fantasy football lineup consisting of players owned in less than 40% of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The goal of the series is to score over 100 fantasy points with the made-up team in an effort to show that there is regularly available value on the waiver wire at all times.
Like I previously mentioned, we once again didn’t achieve our 100 point goal as we went for just 65.5 fantasy points, which was better than we did in Week 10. Kyle Allen really let us down with his 9.4 fantasy point performance. Ross Dwelley was our lone bright spot as he put up 17.4 fantasy points, which by far led our Week 11 squad. We didn’t have another player top 10 fantasy points this week. Let’s hope this week we can get back on track. You can see how we did overall last week below and how we’ve done in previous weeks below.

Week 12 Picks
Quarterback
Sam Darnold (New York Jets) - Owned in 37% of Yahoo and 18% of ESPN leagues
Sam Darnold is coming off of back-to-back 21+ fantasy point performances, where he went for 21.7 and 26.42 fantasy points respectively against the New York Giants and Washington. His schedule doesn’t get any harder as he and the Jets will play hosts to the Oakland Raiders, who have allowed the 8th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Darnold has been on a tear recently and just went for four touchdowns last week. I expect him to keep his great form going against the Raiders this week.
Running Backs
Raheem Mostert (San Francisco 49ers) - Owned in 10% of Yahoo and 8.4% of ESPN leagues
I picked Mostert last week against the Arizona Cardinals where the 49ers could not get the running game going and Jimmy Garappolo eventually went for 424 passing yards. This week should be a bit different as the 49ers host the Green Bay Packers, who can’t stop the run to save their lives. The Packers have allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing running backs. The 49ers also will be without Matt Breida, who usually plays second fiddle to Tevin Coleman. Expect Mostert to see a fair number of touches as he relieves Coleman who will have his work cut out for him on Sunday.
Kalen Ballage (Miami Dolphins) - Owned in 36% of Yahoo and 32.4% of ESPN leagues
Although statistically speaking, in terms of fantasy football points, Ballage has been somewhat good, his play on the field has not. In Week 10 he saw 20 carries, but only managed 43 yards. Last week he posted 12.7 fantasy points last week, but only managed nine carries where a rushing touchdown saved his week. I’m desperate this week for running back value so I guess I have no other choice. He gets the Cleveland Browns who are middle-of-the-pack in points allowed to opposing running backs. Let’s hope he get poach another touchdown this week and help our cause here.
Wide Receivers
Taylor Gabriel (Chicago Bears) - Owned in 9% of Yahoo and 9.5% of ESPN leagues
It feels so odd putting any trust into Mitchell Trubisky and taking one of his wide receivers. However, last week Gabriel saw 14 targets. That type of volume can’t be ignored. He’s now posted at least 12.7 fantasy points in each of his last two games. The Bears also get the New York Giants this week who have given up the third most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.
Russell Gage (Atlanta Falcons) - Owned in 6% of Yahoo and 3.1% of ESPN leagues
Russell Gage is the second repeat from a week ago. I love him this week as the some-what revamped Atlanta Falcons who once again look like an NFL team, take on the league’s worst pass defense in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Austin Hooper is still out, leaving many targets on the board. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley will get their looks, but all of the Falcons’ should feast this week, which would include Gage.
Tight End
Ryan Griffin (New York Jets) - Owned in 39% of Yahoo and 22.1% of ESPN leagues
Griffin has been flying under the radar. That does have to do with the weeks he has posted 0.8 or 1.1 fantasy points, but he’s also recently had weeks where he’s posted 24.6 and 21.9 fantasy points. He gets a great match-up this week in the Oakland Raiders who have given up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. With Sam Darnold playing very well as of late, I’m going to stack him with Griffin this week.
Flex
Hunter Renfrow (Oakland Raiders) - Owned in 16% of Yahoo and 10.3% of ESPN leagues
Renfrow has seen at least five targets in each of his last three games and squares off this week against the New York Jets, who are second only to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in points allowed to opposing wide receivers. The Raiders, believe it or not, are in a position to make a run at a playoff spot, or even an AFC West title. They’re playing well as of late and Renfrow has something to do with that.
Defense
Seattle Seahawks - Owned in 36% of Yahoo and 34.1% of ESPN leagues
The Seahawks are fresh off of a bye week and get the Philadelphia Eagles in Philadelphia. The Eagles are not playing good football as of late and have scored 10, 31, 22 and 10 points in their last four games. The last time we saw the Seattle defense on the field, they posted five sacks, an interception and two fumble recoveries, including a defensive touchdown. Now, I highly doubt it will be like that again but this defense is clicking at the right time and get a team that is struggling to do much with the football.
