Sam Darnold now leads the league in rushing touchdowns. Yes, you read that right. The formally disgraced New York Jets’ quarterback is leading the NFL in rushing touchdowns four weeks into the season with five. He’s now a top five fantasy quarterback. Beyond Darnold, Emmanuel Sanders was our only other suggestion to go for double digit fantasy points, although two of our Week 4 suggestions have yet to play. Let's get onto those Week 5 suggestions!
I typically like to keep my suggestions around, or below, the 40-percent owned mark in both Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The format I’ll follow is one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers and one tight end. As always, the Streamable Defenses of the Week article will drop tomorrow (Tuesday) and Nate’s B-Team series will drop every Saturday. Be sure to follow We Know Fantasy (@WeKnowFantasy) on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to keep up-to-date with all of our fantasy football content.
Barring Derek Carr or Justin Herbert going off tonight, Sam Danrold is the QB1 of the week. Not too bad for a waiver wire play. Cuba Hubbard didn’t live up to the mid-week hype after he was set to replace CMC for at least Week 4. He ran the ball 13 times for 57 yards and caught both of his targets. Emmanuel Sanders continues his impressive season with a 13.1 fantasy point performance, going for 74 yards on five receptions. Tyler Conklin caught four of his five targets but only totaled 18 yards. Peyton Barber and Hunter Renfrow play on Monday Night Football, after this article comes out.

Week 5 Suggestions
Quarterback
Sam Darnold (Carolina Panthers) - Owned in 37% of Yahoo and 18.3% of ESPN leagues
Week 5 Matchup: vs. PHI
I’m going to keep suggesting Darnold until he gets over the 40-percent owned mark. At this point you’re getting a top five fantasy quarterback off the waiver wire. A top five quarterback that is available in about two-thirds of Yahoo and three-fifths of ESPN leagues. Insane. He’s scoring a bunch of rushing touchdowns (leading the league) and has thrown for over 300 yards in each of the Panthers’ last three games. He’s playing some of the best football and he must be rostered in at least the majority of leagues.
Runningbacks
Damien Williams (Chicago Bears) - Owned in 8% of Yahoo and 10.2% of ESPN leagues
Week 5 Matchup: @LV
David Montgomery suffered what appears to be a “serious” knee injury, opening the way for Damien Williams to be the lead back in Chicago. Anytime you can get a featured back (if that is to become Williams’ role for the Bears) they must be a top waiver wire priority. Against the Lions on Sunday, Williams rushed the ball eight times for 55 yards and a score. He caught both of his targets as well. Use your top priority and use a good amount of your FAAB on Williams. Montgomery is set to miss at least a few weeks.
Kenneth Gainwell (Philadelphia Eagles) - Owned in 29% of Yahoo and 24.6% of ESPN leagues
Week 5 Matchup: @CAR
Here’s a familiar face to the Waiver Wire Wishlist and B-Team. Gainwell had a fantastic Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He out touched Miles Sanders 13 to 10. Gainwell got much more work in the passing game than Sanders in Week 4. In Week 3, he was just one touch shy of Sanders. The Eagles want to use Gainwell and if it hasn’t already happened, he may end up being the Eagles RB1 before too long.
Wide Receivers
Jamison Crowder (New York Jets) - Owned in 20% of Yahoo and 14.6% of ESPN leagues
Week 5 Matchup: @ATL
The PPR machine that is Jamison Crowder is back. Even with a different quarterback in Zach Wilson, Crowder caught seven-of-nine targets in his season debut for 61 yards and a score. He’s the type of receiver quarterbacks love to rely on when all else fails, and is a gold mine for rookie and inexperienced quarterbacks, such as Wilson. Crowder is only this little owned because he missed the first three weeks of the season. Get him while you can!
Randall Cobb (Green Bay Packers) - Owned in 6% of Yahoo and 13.6% of ESPN leagues
Week 5 Matchup: @CIN
Good ‘ol trusty Randall Cobb is once again fantasy relevant. The one time favorite target of Aaron Rodgers is producing once again. Marquez Valdez-Scantling has hit the IR, opening up more targets for the likes of Cobb. Cobb had a big Week 4 against the Steelers with a two touchdown performance; catching five-of-six targets. Especially in deeper leagues, Cobb is worthy of a roster spot.
Tight End
Dawson Knox (Buffalo Bills) - Owned in 47% of Yahoo and 20% of ESPN leagues
Week 5 Matchup: @KC
I know Dawson Knox exceeds the 40-percent owned rule in Yahoo leagues, but is only owned in 20-percent of ESPN leagues so I included him. Knox has four touchdowns through the first four weeks of the season. He has 13 targets across the last two games. This Bills’ offense is potent and I want as many shares of it as possible. After suggesting Emmanuel Sanders last week, might as well get the touchdown catching Knox.

Bryan Edwards (Las Vegas Raiders) - 12.1 points
