Waiver Wire Wishlist - Week 4
All I have to say is, imagine if Cordarrelle Patterson was used properly before season nine of his career. He continues to excel in this Falcons’ offense. Beyond Patterson’s continued run of good outings to start the season, the rest of our suggestions did not do much of anything. It was destined that some of these hot starts plateaued out and we saw that in Week 3. Let’s move onto our Week 4 suggestions!
I typically like to keep my suggestions around, or below, the 40-percent owned mark in both Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The format I’ll follow is one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers and one tight end. As always, the Streamable Defenses of the Week article will drop tomorrow (Tuesday) and Nate’s B-Team series will drop every Saturday. Be sure to follow We Know Fantasy (@WeKnowFantasy) on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to keep up-to-date with all of our fantasy football content.
Daniel Jones did not find the end zone, either on the ground or through the air for the first time this season. Saquan Barkley is getting going, which will see him take control of this Giants’ offense. Jones still has yet to turn the ball over though. Patterson had another impressive outing. He ran the ball seven times for the third straight game and caught six of his seven targets for 82 yards. McKissic only had five chances against the Bills. Rondale Moore had one yard on two receptions. Zach Pascal had a ton of chances with his seven targets but he only caught two of them. I do like him still moving forward with those seven targets. Evan Engram was someone I had a lot of faith in making his season debut against a Falcons’ team that allowed three touchdowns to opposing tight ends. Like Pascal, he saw plenty of targets with six but only caught two of them. Still promising for Engram.
Week 3 Results
Daniel Jones (New York Giants) - 16.54 points
Cordarrelle Patterson (Atlanta Falcons) - 16.2 points
J.D. McKissic (Washington Football Team) - 5.8 points
Rondale Moore (Arizona Cardinals) - 2.4 points
Zach Pascal (Indianapolis Colts) - 5.1 points
Evan Engram (New York Giants) - 2.1 points
Week 3 Suggestions
Quarterback
Sam Darnold (Carolina Panthers) - Owned in 21% of Yahoo and 9% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @DAL
Who could have seen a 3-0 start by the Darnold led Panthers? Well here we are. Sam Darnold has been balling to start the season with his new team. He’s gone over 19.06 fantasy points in each of his first three outings and has improved in every game. Darnold and the Panthers get a tough test in the Dallas Cowboys this week to try to improve to 4-0. The Cowboys, prior to their Monday Night outing with the Philadelphia Eagles, have allowed the tenth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Expect another 20-plus point performance out of Darnold.
Runningbacks
Chuba Hubbard (Carolina Panthers) - Owned in 25% of Yahoo and 11.3% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @DAL
Christian McCaffrey is set to miss “a few weeks'' with a strained hamstring that has been determined to be “less than Grade 1.” Although this is good news for the Panthers and fantasy football owners alike, Hubbard will be the Panthers’ starting runningback for a couple of games, including the Panthers’ Week 4 game with the Cowboys. Hubbard ran the ball 11 times for 52 yards and caught three-of-five targets in relief of McCaffrey on Thursday Night Football. Anytime you’re able to get a RB1 of any team off the waiver wire is a win, but getting one as involved as Hubbard will be for the Panthers, even for one week, is a victory. Hubbard should undoubtedly be your top priority this week and will go for a fair share of FAAB.
Peyton Barber (Las Vegas Raiders) - Owned in 7% of Yahoo and 11.3% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @LAC
This could be pointless if Josh Jacobs is to play in Week 4, but if Jacobs is to miss another week with his toe/ankle injury, Barber could be in line for another big day. Against the Dolphins, Barber ran the ball 23 times for 111 yards and a touchdown. He’s out touched Kenyan Drake drastically and is the clear cut RB2 in Las Vegas. Again, if Jacobs is to return to action, Barber doesn’t offer much in terms of fantasy value, but if he’s out, you get another great week with Barber.
**Zack Moss (Buffalo Bills) - Owned in 54% of Yahoo and 57.1% of ESPN leagues - Should be targeted heavily off the waiver wire this week due to his back-to-back 15 fantasy points-plus performances but exceeds our 40-percent owned mark for the Waiver Wire Wishlist.
Wide Receivers
Emmanuel Sanders (Buffalo Bills) - Owned in 26% of Yahoo and 23.3% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: vs. HOU
Josh Allen had some non-Josh Allen type performances to start the season but turned it on in Week 3 against Washington. As a result, Sanders caught two touchdowns. He went for 26.4 fantasy points on five receptions for 94 yards. He’s the clear cut WR2 for MVP hopefully Allen and has seen at least six targets in each of their three games this season. Anyone getting six-plus targets from Allen week-in-and-week out is a must add. Outside of Hubbard, Sanders would be my second waiver priority of the week.
Hunter Renfrow (Las Vegas Raiders) - Owned in 11% of Yahoo and 11.3% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @LAC
In the debate of Henry Ruggs vs. Bryan Edwards, Hunter Renfrow was lost in the discussion. He’s gone out to see at least six targets in each of the Raiders’ first three games and has 22 targets thus far this season. He scored his first touchdown of the season this week. This Raiders team is 3-0 and Derek Carr is playing some of his best football. As Renfrow continues to get peppered with targets, he needs to be rostered in more than 11-percent of leagues. It’s no longer time to sleep on the Clemson product!
Tight End
Tyler Conklin (Minnesota Vikings) - Owned in 4% of Yahoo and 2.6% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: vs. CLE
Tyler Conklin has burst onto the scene. It took three weeks, but the once back-up tightend has emerged as the TE1 in Minnesota. After Irv Smith Jr. was lost for the season, the team brought in Chris Herndon. Myself included, many thought Herndon would eventually take over as the team’s top option. Conklin caught seven-of-his-eight targets this week in a victory over the Seahawks for 70 yards and scored his first touchdown of the season. This Vikings’ team will throw the ball early and often, add Conklin now!
