Waiver Wire Wishlist - Week 17 (Fantasy Basketball)

First off, I would like to apologize for missing my first week of the season last week. I was out of town for Easter and got back later than expected. Due to this, I have included the previous two weeks results for our Week 15 suggestions. Anyhow, we have mixed reviews of our Week 15 suggestions, as we saw some great success from three players and not so much from our other players. Part of this was due to injury and players changing teams Also, the final week of the regular season for most leagues is this week.

Additionally, if you’re looking for fantasy baseball waiver wire suggestions, Week 3 suggestions are live on our website!

Each week, Nate with We Know Fantasy will present his must target waiver waiver suggestions. There will be at least five players listed each week with an attempt to cover all eligible positions. The rule of thumb is for players suggested to be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues - give or take. One player will also be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to all types of leagues. Additionally, Nate will reference both points and category strengths of all suggestions.

Our top suggestion of Week 15, Chuma Okeke, played over 32 minutes, scoring 12.7 points, grabbing six rebounds and added a block on average over the last 14 days. Expect more out of the Magic’s first round selection of a year ago for the remainder of the season. Malik Monk has re-injured his foot but averaged 11 points in 22 minutes-per-game over the 14 days in the time he did play. Rajon Rondo has played limited minutes with his new role with the Los Angeles Clippers and Khem Birch was released and eventually picked up by the Toronto Raptors. Jae’Sean Tate continues his impressive season with playing over 31 minutes over the last 14 days, averaging 14 points, five rebounds and a steal. Dean Wade too had success with the Cavaliers playing just shy of 35 minutes-per-game, putting in nine points, six rebounds and a block.

Week 15-16 Results

Chuma Okeke, PF, Orlando Magic - 32:08 MPG, 12.7 PPG, 5.9 RPG & 0.9 BPG

Malik Monk, SG, Charlotte Hornets - 22 MPG, 11 PPG, 4 APG & 1 SPG

Rajon Rondo, PG, Los Angeles Clippers - 15:4 MPG, 6.3 PPG, 4.3 APG & 1 SPG

Khem Birch, C, Orlando Magic - 16:3 MPG, 2.5 PPG, 2.3 RPG & 1.5 APG

Jae’Sean Tate, SF, Houston Rockets - 31:3 MPG, 13.9 PPG, 5.3 RPG & 1 SPG

Dean Wade, PF, Cleveland Cavaliers - 34:9 MPG, 9.3 PPG, 5.8 RPG & 0.8 BPG

Week 17 Suggestions

Malachi Flynn, PG, Toronto Raptors - Owned in 35% of Yahoo and 22.8% of ESPN leagues

Week 17 Matchups: vs. ATL, vs. SA, vs. ORL & vs. OKC

Alright, I’m not trying to alarm you, but if you don’t have Flynn on your roster, it may be too late and that’s a big miss for you. Over the last four games, Flynn has averaged 13 points, six assists and five rebounds. He’s also recording great defensive stats each game with averaging 3.5 combined blocks and steals over that same time span. With when it’s all said and done, over the past scoring week, Flynn was a top 20 nine-category player.

Jae Crowder, SF/PF, Phoenix Suns - Owned in 39% of Yahoo and 25% of ESPN leagues

Week 17 Matchups: vs. HOU, vs. MIA, vs. SAC & vs. SA

Crowder is one of those players whose numbers won’t jump off the page at you, but he is averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.4 three-pointers. What really has me interested in Crowder is the fact that the Suns play four times per scoring week for the remainder of the season. You’re getting at least four games of fantasy points out of Crowder for as long as you remain in your championship chase.

Jalen McDaniels, PF, Charlotte Hornets - Owned in 31% of Yahoo and 11.7% of ESPN leagues

Week 17 Matchups: vs. LAL, vs. CLE, @BKN & vs. POR

The Hornets have been bit by the injury bug as of late and due to that, players such as McDaniels have stepped up into prominent roles. He’s playing mainly in the place of the absent Bismack Biyombo and brings a ton of defensive energy to the court. In the back week, McDaniels has played over 26 minutes-per-game while recording 15.7 points, a steal and a block.

Mo Bamba, C, Orlando Magic - Owned in 17% of Yahoo and 8.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 17 Matchups: vs. SA, @CHI, @TOR & vs. HOU

The Magic have recently released Birch, which we previously mentioned. That was the biggest obstacle in Mo Bamba’s production and court time. Bamba’s per-minute production corresponds to 15.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per-25 minutes. Those numbers equate to a player that must be owned in every league. Expect to see his minutes rise for the rest of the season.

Grayson Allen, SG, Memphis Grizzlies - Owned in 13% of Yahoo and 6.7% of ESPN leagues

Week 17 Matchups: vs. CHI, vs. DAL, @CHI & @MIL

Am I really going to suggest a Grizzlies’ player again? I guess my hand is forced in finding a shooting guard this week. The Grizzlies’ rotation is impossible to understand and changes constantly. One constant, when healthy, has been Allen however. He’s now started 13 straight games for the Grizzlies and is averaging 26.0 minutes, 12.6 points, 2.4 3-pointers, 3.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists-per-game. These are steady numbers that you can rely on for the remainder of the season; if he stays healthy.

Cole Anthony, PG, Orlando Magic - Owned in 27% of Yahoo and 20% of ESPN leagues

Week 17 Matchups: vs. SA, @CHI, @TOR & vs. HOU

With the Orlando Magic obviously tanking, they should give the likes of Anthony plenty of opportunities. Being the 15th pick of the latest NBA draft, the 20 year-old has seen at least 26 minutes-per-game over the last three games he played since returning from injury. This comes simply from the fact of opportunity and more time on the court equates to more fantasy points, typically.
