Waiver Wire Wishlist (Fantasy Basketball) - Week 4

We were ahead of the curve in suggesting Jalen Brunson last week. Due to this, I personally have added him in nearly every league that I am in and am reaping the benefits. Heck, all of our suggestions from a week ago played well. Shake Milton is getting over 24 minutes-per-game with the 76ers, Josh Hart played starter minutes with Brandon Ingram on the IR. Jarred Vanderbilt is settling in well in his new role as the Minnesota Timberwolves’ starting power forward next to Karl Anthony-Towns. Serge Ibaka played his first minutes of the season against the Hornets. Hold onto him, that’s going to prove to be a big pickup in no time.

I made the mistake of not entering a fantasy basketball league on ESPN, so I won’t have ownership numbers for there, but when it comes to basketball, the ownership between Yahoo and ESPN are very similar. With that being said, I will tend to stay under the 40-percent owned mark on Yahoo for my waiver wire suggestions this season. You can find out how our previous week went below and see the results of the entire season at the end of this article. I will suggest at least five players each week which will cover every position (PG, SG, SF, PF and C.) My suggestions too will revolve around both point-s and categories leagues. Also please note that position eligibility is not the same between Yahoo and ESPN so that will differ as well. Additionally, I will suggest at least one player owned in less than 10-percent of leagues to cater to all league shapes and sizes.

Milton is playing over 24 minutes-per-game while averaging just shy of 12 points, four rebounds and four assists. Brunson is proving to be the best pickup of this early season, going for 34 minutes, 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists over the last seven days. Hart has been playing starter minutes with Ingram on the IR, averaging over 30 minutes-per-game, putting in just under 12 points while grabbing seven rebounds. We talked about Ibaka’s season debut already and Jarred Vanerbilt is playing starter minutes for the Timberwolves, averaging both eight points and rebounds while adding a block-per-game.

Week 3 Results (Last Seven Days)

Shake Milton, PG/SG, Philadelphia 76ers - 24:1 MPG,11.7 PPG, 3.8 APG, 4 RPG & 1 SPG

Jalen Brunson, PG/SG, Dallas Mavericks - 34 MPG, 23 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 3.7 APG & 1 SPG

Josh Hart, SG/SF, New Orleans Pelicans - 30:4 MPG, 11.7 PPG, 7 RPG & 2.3 APG

Serge Ibaka, PF/C, Los Angeles Clippers - 8 MPG, 1 RPG, 1 APG & 1 BPG

Jarred Vanderbilt, PF/C, Minnesota Timberwolves - 26 MPG, 8.3 PPG, 8 RPG & 0.7 BPG

Week 4 Suggestions

Anfernee Simons, PG/SG, Portland Trail Blazers - Owned in 31% of Yahoo leagues

Week 4 Matchups: @LAC, @PHX, @HOU & @DEN

Anfernee Simons is one of the early season favorites for Sixth Man of the Year. Simons has scored at least ten points in all but one game this season and is averaging a season high 23 minutes-per-game. In his last five outings, he’s averaging just over 15 points-per-game and is chipping in in other categories with 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.6 three-points-made. He also gets four games this week, which is always a plus.

Devin Vassell, SG, San Antonio Spurs - Owned in 27% of Yahoo leagues

Week 4 Matchup: vs. SAC, vs. DAL & @LAL

Although not directly affecting Vassell, the absence of big man Jakob Poeltl due to a positive COVID-19 test has opened up playing time for him, due to a shuffling of the rotation. Vassell contributes in a lot of categories as he’s averaging 13.5 points, three rebounds, two assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks over the last seven games. Watch as he continues to earn the trust of legendary coach Greg Popovich.

Malik Beasley, PG/SG, Minnesota Timberwolves - Owned in 37% of Yahoo leagues

Week 4 Matchups: @MEM, @GSW & @LAC

Malik Beasley has found his stroke from behind the arch. He’s hit 19 over the past four games while playing over 31 minutes-per-game in that same time span. With hitting this many threes, he’s averaging just over 14 points-per-game. At this point, he’s best in points leagues due to his scoring and not much else contributing wise, unless your team is in a big need for three-point-shooting, then, he’s your guy.

Josh Richardson, SG/SF, Boston Celtics - Owned in 5% of Yahoo Leagues

Week 4 Matchups: vs. TOR, vs. MIL & @CLE

Jaylen Brown is out for the next two weeks, freeing up court time for the continuous waiver wire gem, Josh Richardson. His season-long statline isn’t impressive and honestly, you can’t pay attention to that. Against the Mavericks in his first game without Brown, Richardson played 31 minutes, scoring 13 points while grabbing three rebounds and dishing two assists. If you’re in deeper leagues and need a lineup spark, look no further.

T.J. Warren, SF/PF, Indiana Pacers - Owned in 36% of Yahoo leagues

Week 4 Matchup: @DEN, @UTA & vs. PHI

This is another one of those stash-and-wait suggestions. If you have an IR spot open, this is a no brainer. Warren brings fantasy game changing potential. There still is no exact timetable for his return to the hardwood, but the Pacers are optimistic that his return is within weeks opposed to months. It’s time to grab Warren now before it’s too late.

Georges Niang, SF/PF, Philadelphia 76ers - Owned in 31% of Yahoo leagues

Week 4 Matchups: vs. NYK, vs. MIL, vs. TOR & @IND

The Philadelphia 76ers are dealing with a lot of injuries, COVID-19 diagnosis and of course, the Ben Simmons’ drama. He’s averaged 30 minutes-per-game over the 76ers’ last four games. He’s averaged over 16 points, four rebounds and just shy of a steal. As long as he’s playing these types of minutes, he’s worth the add.

Khem Birch, PF/C, Toronto Raptors - Owned in 20% of Yahoo leagues

Week 4 Matchups: @BOS, @PHI & vs. DET

Khem Birch is becoming the Raptors’ go-to big down the stretch of games, surpassing Precious Achiuwa, forcing him to the bench. He’s averaging just six points-per-game in 27 minutes, but is grabbing seven rebounds, 2.3 assists and adding a block. He’s also great in categories leagues that include field goal percentage.

Week 2 Results (Last 7 Days)

Cam Reddish, SG/SF, Atlanta Hawks - 24:3 MPG, 14 PPG, 1.8 3PM, 2.5 RPG & 1.3 SPG

Monte Morris, PG, Denver Nuggets - 29:15 MPG, 13.5 PPG, 1.3 3PM & 4.5 APG

Precious Achiuwa, SF/PF, Toronto Raptors - 20:3 MPG, 6 PPG, 6 RPG & 0.5 BPG

LaMarcus Aldridge, PF/C, Brooklyn Nets - 20:19 MPG, 14.3 PPG, 4.7 RPG & 0.7 BPG

Damion Lee, SG/SF, Golden State Warriors - 29:3 MPG, 17 PPG, 4 3PM & 4.5 RPG
