Waiver Wire Wishlist - Fantasy Basketball (Week 19)

It wasn’t the most ideal time for us to have a down week for the Waiver Wire Wishlist. With the first round of the playoffs, we’d hope to see better results out of our suggestions. We did have a few homeruns with the likes of Darius Bazley who had himself a week. As we enter the semi-finals for most leagues, we’re looking for better results from our waiver wire suggestions.

Additionally, if you’re looking for fantasy baseball waiver wire suggestions, Week 5 suggestions are live on our website!

Each week, Nate with We Know Fantasy will present his must target waiver waiver suggestions. There will be at least five players listed each week with an attempt to cover all eligible positions. The rule of thumb is for players suggested to be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues - give or take. One player will also be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to all types of leagues. Additionally, Nate will reference both points and category strengths of all suggestions.

Justin Holiday didn’t play the minutes we hoped he would with just 24:3 over the past seven days. Reggie Jackson averaged 13.7 points-per-game over the last week. Daniel Gafford played under 20 minutes-per-game last week, but did average 11.3 points-per-game. He added seven rebounds as well. Bazley was our big winner of Week 18 with his 22 points and 7.5 rebounds-per-game while playing 35 minutes. Danuel Theis grabbed just shy of six rebounds over the last seven days while adding eight points. Naji Marshall averaged eight points-per-game in 27 minutes.

Week 18 Results

Justin Holiday, SG/SF, Indiana Pacers - 24:3 MPG, 5 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 1.3 SPG & 1.3 BPG

Reggie Jackson, PG, Los Angeles Clippers - 26:19 MPG, 13.7 PPG, 5 APG & 1 SPG

Daniel Gafford, C, Washington Wizards - 18:19 MPG, 11.3 PPG, 7 RPG & 1.7 BPG

Darius Bazley, SF/PF, Oklahoma City Thunder - 35 MPG, 22 PPG, 7.5 RPG & 1.5 SPG

Daniel Theis, PF/C, Chicago Bulls - 25 MPG, 7.8 PPG, 5.8 RPG & 0.8 BPG

Naji Marshall, SF, New Orleans Pelicans - 27:15 MPG, 8 PPG, 4.3 RPG & 1 SPG

Week 19 Suggestions

PJ Dozier, PG, Denver Nuggets - Owned in 14% of Yahoo and 4.6% of ESPN leagues

Week 19 Matchups: vs. MEM, vs. NO, vs. TOR & @TOR

With Jamal Murray (knee) and Monte Morris (hamstring) already sidelined with injury, Will Barton (hamstring) has joined them. Head Coach Mike Malone stated that Barton’s injury is “significant.” This leaves PJ Dozier in line to play significant minutes during the playoff chase. Dozier started his first game on Saturday against the Rockets where he scored a career high 23 points. We can expect starter minutes for the foreseeable future out of Dozier.

Josh Jackson, SG/SF, Detroit Pistons - Owned in 37% of Yahoo and 25.2% of ESPN leagues

Week 19 Matchups: vs. ATL, vs. DAL & @CHA

Josh Jackson is a name we’ve seen multiple times this season in this series. As of late, he’s scored double-digits in eight of his last nine games. He’s also topped 20 points in four of them. During that same time span, he’s averaging 18.8 points-per-game while shooting 46.5-percent from the field. He adds 4.3 rebounds 1.9 threes, 0.8 blocks, and 0.6 steals in 28.2 minutes-per-game as well.

Bruce Brown, SG, Brooklyn Nets - Owned in 41% of Yahoo and 35% of ESPN leagues

Week 19 Matchups: @TOR, @IND, vs. POR & @MIL

James Harden is set to miss at least the next week and Kevin Durant has recently hit the IL. With those two stars out, the Nets’ secondstring is set to get plenty of court time. If you’re looking for out-of-position rebounds, Brown is your guy. He’s averaging 9.5 for a shooting guard. He’s a bit of a defensive and rebounding specialist as well, as he’s good for a handful of steals.

Landry Shamet, SG, Brooklyn Nets - Owned in 26% of Yahoo and 12.1% of ESPN leagues

Week 19 Matchups: @TOR, @IND, vs. POR & @MIL

Shamet is in the same boat as Brown, playing significant minutes with both James Harden and Kevin Durant sidelined. If you’re in need of points and three-pointers, Shamet is your guy over Brown. Let’s put it this way, Shamet is averaging 19 points-per-game over his last six outings. This is the production you’re getting out of a waiver wire addition going into the second round of the playoffs.

Khem Birch, C, Toronto Raptors - Owned in 19% of Yahoo and 10.3% of ESPN leagues

Week 19 Matchups: vs. CLE, vs. BKN, @DEN, @UTA & @LAL

First off, the Raptors get five games this week, which automatically bumps up the value of their players. With Chris Boucher (knee) sidelined, Birch is in line to play significant minutes. Since joining the Raptors about two weeks ago, Birch has started five games. He’s averaged 28.3 minutes-per-game while putting in 8.8 points, grabbing 6.4 rebounds and blocking 1.8 shots-per-game.

Royce O’Neal, SF/PF, Utah Jazz - Owned in 25% of Yahoo and 18.7% of ESPN leagues

Week 19 Matchups: @MIN, @SAC, @PHO & vs. TOR

Royce O’Neal has been a player who has been on multiple of my rosters all season long. As the Jazz’s top wing defender, O’Neal sees plenty of court time. We preach weekly about how important time on the court is for fantasy success. He’s averaging 10.7 boards and 3.0 assists over his last six games as well. He’s one of those players that doesn’t do one thing extremely well but does everything well.
