Waiver Wire Pick-ups - Week 8

https://www.bulletsforever.com/2019/10/18/20911781/washington-wizards-2019-20-season-preview-moritz-wagner-player-analysis

Seven weeks of the NBA and fantasy basketball season have come and gone. It’s weird to think that it has been nearly two months since the season has started already but here we are. Again, injuries continue to pile up, which opens up doors for waiver wire additions for weeks or even months at a time. It’s still early in the fantasy basketball process but don’t think that just because it’s early that you can lay back and hope for things to turn around. You can fall out of contention real quickly with that mentality. Do your due diligence and do your research, such as reading articles such as this one below.

This waiver wire article for fantasy basketball is featured every Sunday night on our website (www.weknowfantasy.com) to allow our readers to put in their claims for the upcoming week, whenever they are processed. We will stay under the 40-percent owned mark in both Yahoo and ESPN leagues in our suggestions to cater to as many readers as we possibly can. We will also include at least one player owned in less than 10 percent of Yahoo and or ESPN leagues. There is no set number of players to be featured each week but there will be at least five players talked about. Checkout how the players we suggested last week performed below!

Week 7 Suggestions

Tim Hardaway Jr., SG/SF, Dallas Mavericks - Averaged 9 points over the last 7 days

Mo Bamba, C, Orlando Magic - Averaged 10 points over the last 7 days

Tyus Jones, PG, Memphis Grizzlies - Averaged 10.3 points over the last 7 days

Bismack Biyombo, PF/C, Charlotte Hornets - Averaged 9 points over the last 7 days

Jordan McRae, PG/SG, Washington Wizards - Averaged 13 points over the last 7 days

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, SG/SF, Los Angeles Lakers - Averaged 14 points over the last 9.3 days

Keita Bates-Diop, SF, Minnesota Timberwolves - Averaged 5.7 points over the last 7 days

Week 8 Suggestions

Moritz Wagner, PF/C, Washington Wizards - Owned in 39% of Yahoo and 9.4% of ESPN leagues

Next Week’s Games: @Cha & @MEM

Thomas Bryant is set to miss at least the next three weeks, leaving behind an average of 28.4 minutes and 8.5 rebounds per game. With the Wizards’ depth chart already being rather slim, especially in the front court, Wagner is set to take on a much larger role in Bryant’s absence. Wagner has already averaged over 15 fantasy points over the last 15 days and has averaged over 18 fantasy points over the last 18 days. If you haven’t already, it’s about time you pick this guy up.

https://www.blazersedge.com/2019/11/1/20942871/kent-bazemore-portland-trail-blazers-stats-defense

Kent Bazemore, SG/SF, Portland Trailblazers - Owned in 32% of Yahoo and 2.7% of ESPN leagues

Next Week’s Games: NY & @DEN

We saw Rodney Hood tear his Achilles on Friday, as he’ll now miss the rest of the season. The next man up will be Kent Bazmore. Bazemore isn’t the ideal player to fill the role but he can provide double-digit scoring on the wing and has a solid turnover margin. Bazemore holds more value for being a rest of the season addition, opposed to just someone to plug in for the next few weeks.

De’Anthony Melton, PG/SG, Memphis Grizzlies - Owned in 9% of Yahoo and 2% of ESPN leagues

Next Week’s Games: @GS, @POR, MIL & WAS

We are still unsure of how much longer rookie sensation Ja Morant will be out. He was originally tagged as “week-to-week” and has only missed four games thus far. As the Grizzlies are a team eyeing for a chance at the first pick in the draft, they’re in no rush for Morant’s return. Melton has been playing well in Morant’s absence. He’s averaged 9.8 points, 6 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.8 streals. Melton has become the starter in Morant’s absence, despite Tyus Jones’ larger ownership mark.

Jaxson Hayes, C, New Orleans Pelicans - Owned in 21% of Yahoo and 6.5% of ESPN leagues

Next Week’s Games: DET, @MIL, @PHI & ORL

Hayes is a player we previously featured in this series as someone to stash and add because he was destined to go off. Now is the time you’re being rewarded for that. With Zion Williamson still sidelined, and could be sidelined for the entire season, Hayes is starting to come into his potential. Over his past 11 games, Hayes has averaged 10.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 25.8 minutes-per-game.

https://www.ajc.com/sports/basketball/five-things-learned-from-the-hawks-preseason-loss-the-pelicans/VBvjTRDLwAUCuWAA4xp29N/

Damian Jones, C, Atlanta Hawks - Owned in 14% of Yahoo and 0.9% of ESPN leagues

Next Week’s Games: @MIA, @CHI, IND & LAL

As John Collins continues to serve his suspension and although he's expected back in a few weeks, Damian Jones has continued to be the Hawks’ center of choice in his absence. Over Jones’ last two games, he has averaged 18 points and eight rebounds. I think it's time we all get on the Jones wagon and ride it out before Collins returns and derails us.

Garrett Temple, SG/SF, Brooklyn Nets - Owned in 21% of Yahoo and 4% of ESPN leagues

Next Week’s Games: CHA, @TOR & PHI

If you’re a roto and/or categories player, Temple is the ideal player for you. He doesn’t do one thing very well, but he does a lot of things well. He’s a very well rounded player, as he has averaged 13.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists over the last 15 days. He gets added value as long as Kyrie Irving is out as well.
