It wasn’t the best week in Week 14 for our suggested additions overall. Sekou Doumbouya had one stinker of a week. Don’t let this mislead you though, he is still a very talented player with a high upside. Shabazz Napier has held his own in his expanded role with the Minnesota Timberwolves after the team traded Jeff Teague. Steve Kerr threw us a screwball when it came to Omari Spellman as we for sure thought he’d be the next man up with the Willie Cauley-Stein trade, but we were wrong there. Payton is the most productive player of the past week that we suggested. He’s filling the stat-sheet well and I’m just kicking myself in the butt for not putting him higher on our list last week. Luke Kornet did not do much in his, what we thought to be expanded role with the Bulls’ plethora of front-court injuries. However, as Lauri Markkanen is now set to miss a month, Kornet’s value remains. Monte Morris has done well with Jamal Murray being out.

Week 15 Suggestions
Reggie Jackson, PG/SG, Detroit Pistons - Owned in 34% of Yahoo and 40.4% of ESPN leagues
First off, forgive me. Jackson misses the cutoff by 0.4% in ESPN leagues, but I’m going to include him anyhow. He’s recently back after missing three months with a back injury and has been a spark to the Pistons right away. In his first game back, he scored 22 points in just 19 minutes and 14 in 23 minutes in his second game back. On top of those numbers, he’s recorded four and six assists respectively. Obviously he’s playing these limited minutes as the team phases him back into things after missing such an extended period of time. Before you know it, he’ll be back to 30 minutes-per-game and putting up an impressive stat line. Get him now while you can, before it’s too late.

Trevor Ariza, SG/SF, Portland Trailblazers - Owned in 32% of Yahoo and 25.7% of ESPN leagues
Ariza is one of the hottest topics across both the NBA and Fantasy Basketball. He was recently traded to the Portland Trailblazers and was immediately placed into the team’s starting lineup. In his Blazers’ debut he went for 21 points and saw 36 minutes of court time. Just as he has next to James Harden in previous years, Ariza will serve as the floor spacer for Damian Lillard and C.J. Lillard. He won’t be a consistent contributor, but between his big nights he has, he’s a must add in fantasy.

Jerami Grant, SF/PF, Denver Nuggets - Owned in 38% of Yahoo and 32.9% of ESPN leagues
It’s obvious that we like to look for players who spend a lot of time on the court when it comes to waiver wire additions. The more time a player spends on the court, the more chances they get to score fantasy points. Well, over the past seven days, the Nuggets’ swing-man has averaged 34:14 minutes-per-game. That’s an insane number. If we look at his last 14 game average he’s still at 31:52 minutes-per-game. Over the past two weeks, not only is he easily exceeding 30 minutes a night, he’s averaging 13.9 points-per-game, 5.1 rebounds-per-game and adds a steal and a block as well. You want a guy like this on your roster.

Marquiss Chriss, PF/C, Golden State Warriors - Owned in 5% of Yahoo and 4.3% of ESPN leagues
Many, like myself, assumed it would be Omari Spellman’s spot to have when the Warriors traded Willie Cauley-Stein to the Dallas Mavericks. In the first game without WCS, Steve Kerr opted to go for Marquiss Chriss in the starting lineup, who saw 21 minutes of court time. He went for 13 points and three rebounds. It’s still too early to call who is to take over that starting roll for the Warriors, as it’s been just a one game sample, but as I suggested adding Spellman last week prior to the trade, we’ll include Chriss this week.

Josh Okogie, PG/SG, Minnesota Timberwolves - Owned in 6% of Yahoo and 8.1% of ESPN leagues
Okogie started his first game of some time on January 24th against the Rockets in place of rookie Jarrett Culver as he continues to be up-and-down. In that game, Okogie saw over 30 minutes for the first time in about two weeks. He routinely plays just shy of the 30 minute mark, alot of which around 27ish minutes-per-game. He dropped 17 points in that start as well. He was not in the starting lineup on Saturday when the ‘Wolves played the Thunder, but at the time of writing this, he has a pretty even timeshare with Culver. It seems that the two will play pretty similar minutes and could be pretty interchangeable throughout the season. I like Okogie, especially in category leagues.
