The First Firing of the Season

The writing was on the wall. Jay Gruden has been fired from Washington. This means we might finally see Dwayne Haskins take over the franchise for the remainder of the season. Washington are out of contention and won’t be a high scoring offense which makes a lot of their players undesirable, unfortunately firing Gruden may have made that worse.

Terry McCluarin is still the only receiver you want to own. His chemistry from playing with Haskins in college will help him hold fantasy value for the rest of the season. He looked good against Stephon Gilmore who, is argued to be the best corner in football. If Keenum or McCoy stay under center, his value doesn’t change, he’ll continue to get the targets and be a valuable piece of the Redskins offense, but it stops there.

Chris Thompson is still a weekly flex play; Washington shouldn’t see a positive game script this season except for (maybe) Miami this week and (possibly) the Giants in Week 16.

Interim head coach Bill Callahan has already expressed the need to ‘establish the run’. We hear coaches say this all the time, but this makes Adrian Peterson worth a look. He’s available in 48% of leagues and if Washington can get back on track, he would be a good RB3/flex play.
