For the first time this season, we met our goal. It was almost entirely due to Jauan Jennings having the best game imaginable as he nearly accounted for half-of-our-points but hey, a win’s a win. Jennings scored 46.5 fantasy points to help us cross the finish line at 107.6 points for the week. The likes of Wan’Dale Robinson also showed up to help us out with his 13.1 fantasy points as well. It’s always fun to get a victory in this series so let's see what Week 4 has in store for us.
This is a series where I construct a hypothetical fantasy football lineup using players that are owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The goal of the series is to top 100 PPR fantasy points using the make-shift team. The premise is to show that there is readily available value at all times across most waiver wires. You can find last week’s results below and the result of previous weeks at the bottom of this article in the future!
Jennings caught 11 balls for 175 yards and three touchdowns during the 49ers’ Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams en route to 46.5 fantasy points. Geno Smith didn’t have the best of games but he still threw for 289 yards and a touchdown against the Dolphins. Two thrown interceptions really hurt him there. Robinson continues to shine for this series as he caught seven passes for 61 yards en route to 13.1 fantasy points.

Week 4 Lineup
Quarterback
Daniel Jones (New York Giants) - Owned in 7% of Yahoo and 13% of ESPN Leagues
Jones has not been too bad as of late. It helps when he has the WR1 in all of fantasy football, Malik Nabers, to throw to. Over the last two weeks, he posted results of 18.32 fantasy points against the Washington Commander and 19.44 fantasy points against the Cleveland Browns. Jones also offers rushing upside in which we love in this series. The Giants get the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football this week who have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks to start the season.
Running Backs
Alexander Mattison (Las Vegas Raiders) - Owned in 33% of Yahoo and 30.9% of ESPN Leagues
The running back position is easily the toughest position to find success in this series. With that being said, I’m taking the touchdown merchant that is Alexander Mattison. Mattison has scored for the Raiders in each of their first three games of the season. Obviously we’re gambling on a fourth straight game with a touchdown for Mattison but the track record is there and these are the types of plays we need to hit in this series.
Cam Akers (Houston Texans) - Owned in 34% of Yahoo and 27.4% of ESPN Leagues
I’m going to take the gamble here that both Damian Pierce and Joe Mixon miss this week’s game with the Jaguars. Both were non-participants in practice through Wednesday. Akers saw 12 touches in the Texans Week 3 loss to the Vikings. He didn’t do much with the touches but did score a receiving touchdown. The Jaguars have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing running backs to start the season.
Wide Receivers
Wan’Dale Robinson (New York Giants) - Owned in 24% of Yahoo and 24.8% of ESPN Leagues
For the fourth straight week, I’m rolling out Robinson on The B-Team. He’s seen 24 targets across the first three weeks of the season, catching 15 of them for 123 yards and a touchdown. I already played Daniel Jones and believe he’s going to have a good week and in result, his receivers must as well. Playing opposite Malik Nabers helps Robinson more than it hurts him.
Xavier Legette (Carolina Panthers) - Owned in 12% of Yahoo and 22.9% of ESPN Leagues
Adam Thielen has hit the IR and the biggest benefactor of that will be Legette. He saw three targets in Week 3, catching two of them for 42 yards. Andy Dalton just threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns a week ago. The Bengals’ defense was just dismantled by Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football last week.
Tight End
Tyler Conklin (New York Jets) - Owned in 26% of Yahoo and 33.1% of ESPN Leagues
We’ve been waiting for what seems like ages for Conklin to finally emerge as a threat in New York and with the offseason rumblings that with Aaron Rodgers that would come to fruition, it seems like it finally has. He caught five-of-six targets for 93 yards in the Jets’ Thursday Night Football victory over the New England Patriots. The Broncos have also allowed the 11th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends to start the season.
FLEX
DeMario Douglas (New England Patriots) - Owned in 8% of Yahoo and 28.9% of ESPN Leagues
Douglas is fresh off a big game against the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football where he caught seven-of-nine targets for 69 yards and ran the ball for nine more yards. The usage is what excites me for this series. The Patriots also get the 49ers this week who have allowed the seventh most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. The Patriots will almost certainly be playing from behind as well, forcing Jacoby Brissett to pass the ball.
Gabe Davis (Jacksonville Jaguars) - Owned in 29% of Yahoo and 39.5% of ESPN Leagues
I don’t love playing someone attached to the Jaguars right now but Davis has seen 13 targets across his last two games. He may have caught just five of them for 61 yards, but the fact he is getting the ball thrown his way is a great sign. Davis is a big play waiting to happen and a bit of a home-run hitter here. These are the plays we need in this series. Additionally, the Texans have allowed the 11th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers on the season.
