Of course on the week we hit big on the likes of Peyton Barber, Emmanuel Sanders and Hunter Renfrow, our quarterback underperforms and we have a runningback total zero points. We were just three points shy of getting our first victory of the season with the B-Team. Anyhow, despite not getting to the 100 point total, Week 3 still feels like a victory for me. I’m riding high heading into Week 4. Let’s get into it!
This is a series where I construct a hypothetical fantasy football lineup using players that are owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The goal of the series is to top 100 PPR fantasy points using the make-shift team. The premise is to show that there is readily available value at all times across most waiver wires. You can find last week’s results below.
After starting the season with consecutive 20-plus point fantasy performances, Teddy Bridgewater didn’t throw for a touchdown and went for 235 yards. Like I’ve previously said so many times before, our success in the B-Team is directly correlated to the success of our quarterback. Trenton Cannon didn’t record a single carry but Peyton Barber made up for that. Barber scored two touchdowns on the week and rushed for over 100 yards. Sammy Watkins caught four balls for 68 yards. Emmanuel Sanders had a two touchdown day and was just shy of 100 receiving yards. Evan Engram got plenty of targets with six but only caught two for 21 yards. Hunter Renfrow continued his early season success scoring a touchdown and going for 77 yards. The Raiders’ defense scored four points. Not too bad.

Week 4 Lineup
Quarterback
Sam Darnold (Carolina Panthers) - Owned in 36% of Yahoo and 17.7% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @DAL
With Christian McCaffrey not in the lineup, the Panthers and Sam Darnold are going to have to throw the ball to keep pace with this Cowboys’ offense. Darnold has been no slouch to start the season either. He’s a completely different player since escaping the New York Jets. He’s scored at least 19 fantasy points in each of the first three games. On top of passing for at least 279 yards in each game, Darnold also has three rushing touchdowns on the season. Let’s hope for another great game out of Darnold.
Runningbacks
Royce Freeman (Carolina Panthers) - Owned in 5% of Yahoo and 3.3% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @DAL
As everyone scrambled to add Chuba Hubbard (and rightfully so) they may have overlooked Freeman. We know what Hubbard did once CMC left the Panthers’ Week 3 game with his hamstring injury, but Freeman also got five carries. There’s a strong possibility that he could get double-digit touches, which is all we need here on the B-Team. Freeman averaged 3.4 yards-per-carry last week and could see the goal line work over Hubbard, or at least we can hope for that.
Kenneth Gainwell (Philadelphia Eagles) - Owned in 29% of Yahoo and 24.7% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: vs. KC
Miles Sanders saw just one more opportunity than Kenneth Gainwell did in Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys. Each saw four targets but Sanders had two carries to Gainwell’s one. Impressive, right? The Eagles get the Kansas City Chiefs this week, who have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing runningbacks thus far this season. Who knows what the chances will look like for the Eagles’ backfield but with the chance of being the “lead” back for the Eagles against the Chiefs, Gainwell has to be played.
Wide Receiver
Sammy Watkins (Baltimore Ravens) - Owned in 22% of Yahoo and 30.8% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @DEN
It’s pretty surprising that Sammy Watkins is still owned in less than a quarter of leagues. He’s yet to record a touchdown but has seen at least seven targets in each of the first three games to start the season. He gets a touch matchup with the Broncos this week who have allowed the tenth fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. If he can get another seven-plus target week, that’s all we can hope for.
Hunter Renfrow (Las Vegas Raiders) - Owned in 24% of Yahoo and 38.4% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @LAC
I’m going to use two of our options from our successful Week 3 in Week 4. Renfrow scored his first touchdown of the season last week and has seen at least six targets in each of the Raiders’ first three games. Like Watkins, he has a very tough outing this week against the Chargers who have allowed the second fewest fantasy points to start the season. Let’s hope for many dump-offs or short-routes to Renfrow.
Tight End
Tyler Conklin (Minnesota Vikings) - Owned in 13% of Yahoo and 19.5% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: vs. CLE
Tyler Conklin was the TE1 last week and has emerged as a favorite target for Kirk Cousins. He caught seven-of-eight targets a week ago and saw four each in Weeks 1 and 2. Now, I don’t expect him to see another eight targets against the Browns, but six-or-so seems fair. This could be a shoot out as the over/under is set a 51.5. There should be plenty of scoring opportunities for both sides this week. Let’s hope at least one goes Conklin’s way.
Flex
Chester Rogers (Tennessee Titans) - Owned in 2% of Yahoo and 0.6% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: @NYJ
The Tennessee Titans and Ryan Tannehill will be without A.J. Brown and Julio Jones for their Week 4 tilt with the Jets. I know the matchup is rough as the Jets have allowed the second fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Now, this is going to be a Derrick Henry game, no doubt about that. But, you can’t play a football game without throwing the ball a few times and someone has to catch it from Tannehill. Rogers will be his best bet this week, as odd as that may sound.
Defense
Dallas Cowboys - Owned in 20% of Yahoo and 18.2% of ESPN leagues
Week 4 Matchup: vs. CAR
This may sound a bit counter-intuitive with my play of both Sam Darnold and Royce Freeman, but my other two options from this week’s Streamable Defenses of the Week either played already or are over the 40-percent owned mark. The Dallas secondary has six interceptions; averaging two per game. That is insane. On top of that they have two fumble recoveries and four sacks.
