The B-Team - Week 15

https://theeagleswire.usatoday.com/2020/12/18/doug-pederson-jalen-hurts-unshakeable-eagles/

It wasn’t the 100 points we hoped for, but it wasn’t the worst of performances. The likes of Russell Gage and the Dallas Cowboys’ defense really helped us this week. I constantly harp about how the success of our B-Team quarterback is contingent upon our overall result. We have just two more weeks before this series comes to an end for its second season. Let’s get at least 100 points in one of these next two weeks.

This is a series where I construct a hypothetical fantasy football lineup using players that are owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The goal of the series is to top 100 PPR fantasy points using the make-shift team. The premise is to show that there is readily available value at all times across most waiver wires. You can find last week’s results below and the result of previous weeks at the bottom of this article.

Our team was led by our flex option, Russell Gage, who went for 18.76 fantasy points on 82 yards and five receptions. After that, our defense helped lead the way as the Dallas Cowboys’ posted 18 fantasy points against the Cincinnati Bengals. They used three fumble recoveries, one defensive touchdown and two sacks in route to the impressive performance. Andy Dalton was the only other player to top ten fantasy points with 15.3.

Week 14 Results

Andy Dalton (Dallas Cowboys) - 15.3 points

DeAndre Washington (Miami Dolphins) - 7.2 points

Ito Smith (Atlanta Falcons) - 5.5 points

Keke Coutee (Houston Texans) - 9.4 points

Allen Lazard (Green Bay Packers) - 3.9 points

Cole Kmet (Chicago Bears) - 8.1 points

Russell Gage (Atlanta Falcons) - 18.76 points

Dallas Cowboys - 18 points

Total: 86.16 points

Week 15 Lineup

Quarterback

Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles) - Owned in 37% of Yahoo and 30% of ESPN leagues

Jalen Hurts has done nothing with his arm to impress, but his rushing ability has made him a somewhat decent fantasy asset. Last week he ran 18 times for 106 yards. He did this on top of 17-for-30 passing for 167 yards and a score. Hurts faces the Arizona Cardinals this week who have allowed the 13th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

Runningbacks

https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/nfl/2020/11/12/miami-dolphins-rookie-rb-ahmed-has-got-some-juice/6272789002/

Salvon Ahmed (Miami Dolphins) - Owned in 30% of Yahoo and 23.2% of ESPN leagues

Ahmed has missed the last three weeks due to a shoulder injury. I’m gambling that he plays this week. Before Ahmed got injured, he served as the Dolphins’ lead runningback. Prior to missing the last three weeks, Ahmed scored 16 and 12.4 fantasy points respectively in Weeks 10 and 11. If he is a go this week, he gets the New England Patriots who have allowed the 15th most fantasy points to opposing runningbacks.

Sony Michel (New England Patriots) - Owned in 17% of Yahoo and 9.9% of ESPN leagues

This isn’t the best of matchups but with the lack of available runningbacks at this point of the season, we could do worse. Michel has seen 10 and 7 carries respectively over the last two weeks. The Dolphins, who the Patriots play this week, have allowed the 23rd most fantasy points to opposing runningbacks. We’re just hoping for a few safe points here with Michel.

Wide Receivers

Kendrick Bourne (San Francisco 49ers) - Owned in 7% of Yahoo and 2.1% of ESPN leagues

Bourne remains one of the constants in this 49ers’ offense. With Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk both struggling with injuries over the last five weeks, Bourne has seen at least five targets in each game. Now, with Samuel out for the season (or at least the 49ers’ outing with the Cowboys), Bourne will remain a constant for Nick Mullens. On top of all of this, the Cowboys have allowed the seventh most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Russell Gage (Atlanta Falcons) - Owned in 23% of Yahoo and 18.8% of ESPN leagues

We played Russell Gage last week in our flex position as he led our team in fantasy points. Julio Jones has already been ruled out for the Falcons’ Week 15 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gage has seen at least five targets in six of his last seven games. The Buccaneers have given up the 11th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Tight End

Cole Kmet (Chicago Bears) - Owned in 11% of Yahoo and 13.1% of ESPN leagues

Cole Kmet is becoming a prominent part of this Bears’ offense. He’s seen seven targets in two straight games now. He out-targeted Jimmy Graham a week ago seven-to-four. Both of these seven target games have come with Mitch Trubisky starting. The Bears get the Vikings this week, who have allowed the 17th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.

Flex

https://dknation.draftkings.com/2020/9/24/21455498/keelan-cole-injury-concussion-week-3-fantasy-football-jaguars-vs-dolphins-chris-conley

Keelan Cole Sr. (Jacksonville Jaguars) - Owned in 24% of Yahoo and 14% of ESPN leagues

With Minshew back for part of the Jaguars’ Week 14 game with the Titans, Cole saw 12 targets, catching seven of them for 67 yards and a score. Minshew will start Week 15’s game with the Baltimore Ravens. Expect Cole to have a decent week as the Ravens have allowed the 14th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Defense

Dallas Cowboys- Owned in 23% of Yahoo and 15.9% of ESPN leagues

Am I really about to play the Dallas defense in back-to-back weeks? Yep. They had a great week last week against the Bengals and get another plus matchup here with the San Francisco 49ers who have allowed the 7th most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Mullens has thrown at least one interception in his last five games, throwing two in two of those games as well. He’s going to turn the ball over.
