What a pitiful performance out of me this past week. I’m not sure why I put faith in Colt McCoy, but here we are. We had a combined 0.2 points between one of our runningbacks and tight end. Some of our troubles were due to injuries, but most of it was due to picking the wrong players. We have three more weeks of the B-Team, so let’s get some 100-plus point performances!
This is a series where I construct a hypothetical fantasy football lineup using players that are owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The goal of the series is to top 100 PPR fantasy points using the make-shift team. The premise is to show that there is readily available value at all times across most waiver wires. You can find last week’s results below and the result of previous weeks at the bottom of this article.
I’ve said it before, our success in the B-Team is contingent on the production of our quarterback. This week, a successful outing from Colt McCoy wouldn’t have saved this team. It doesn’t help when one of our runningbacks leaves injured and scores just 0.2 point. Our tight end also put up 0 points. Keke Coutee was our top performer and without him, we could have had one of the worst weeks in B-Team history. Well, now onto Week 14!

Week 14 Lineup
Quarterback
Andy Dalton (Dallas Cowboys) - Owned in 15% of Yahoo and 5.3% of ESPN leagues
This could be a revenge game. Andy Dalton got the short end of the stick in his last season in Cincinnati. Of course, the Bengals moved on from the veteran to bring in Joe Burrow, so they’re not in fault there. Anyhow, Dalton could be looking to show what he can do against the team he spent the entirety of his career, up until this season, with. The Bengals are middle of the league in terms of points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Let’s hope we see a big week out of the Red Rifle.
Runningbacks
DeAndre Washington (Miami Dolphins) - Owned in 18% of Yahoo and 13.2% of ESPN leagues
As Myles Gaskins is out on the COVID/Reserve list, DeAndre Washington is expected to be the lead back for the Dolphins in their Week 14 tilt with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have allowed the 14th most fantasy points to opposing runningbacks. Anytime we can squeeze in a starting back at this point of the season, we have no choice but to play them.
Ito Smith (Atlanta Falcons) - Owned in 4% of Yahoo and 1.3% of ESPN leagues
Last week, Smith matched Todd Gurley’s carries (9) and bested him in snaps with 24 to Gurley’s 22. This is a risky play as the Falcons’ backfield will be one of a committee for the rest of the season with Brian Hill in the mix as well. However, Smith has been the team’s “top” back in the last two weeks in terms of opportunities. He ran 12 times for 65 yards and a score two weeks ago against the Raiders. The Falcons get the Chargers this week who have allowed the tenth most fantasy points to opposing runningbacks.
Wide Receivers
Keke Coutee (Houston Texans) - Owned in 42% of Yahoo and 30.7% of ESPN leagues
Coutee has gone from non-involved in the Texans’ offense to now their top receiver. After cutting Kenny Stills and losing Will Fuller to suspension, the Texans will also be without Brandin Cooks this week with a foot injury. Coutee showed up in his first week of importance last week catching eight-of-nine targets for 141 yards. Expect a similar performance this week, even with the Texans facing a stout Bears’ secondary.
Allen Lazard (Green Bay Packers) - Owned in 38% of Yahoo and 28.8% of ESPN leagues
Lazard saw his highest snap count and most yards in the three games he's played since returning from injury. As he continues to get healthier and healthier with each week, he gets a great matchup with the Detroit Lions who have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.
Tight End
Cole Kmet (Chicago Bears) - Owned in 5% of Yahoo and 3.7% of ESPN leagues
Cole Kmet saw a career high seven targets last week, where he caught five of them for 37 yards and a score. The Bears used an early second round pick on the Notre Dame product so it’s about time they got him involved. He squares off with the Texans who have allowed the 17th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends.
Flex
Russell Gage (Atlanta Falcons) - Owned in 10% of Yahoo and 11.8% of ESPN leagues
Julio Jones will miss yet another game as the Falcons take on the Chargers. The Chargers are very good against the pass, allowing the fourth fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. This may make Matt Ryan spread the ball around more and focus on his lesser known targets, as the likes of Calvin Ridley sees heavy coverage. I’m not sure that reasoning is sound but it sounds good to me.
Defense
Dallas Cowboys - Owned in 29% of Yahoo and 19.8% of ESPN leagues
First off, the Bengals have allowed the fifth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. In the two games without Joe Burrow, the Bengals’ defense has allowed nine and 14 fantasy points to the Giants and Dolphins respectively. I know the Cowboys’ defense is far from good but this is one of those situations where whomever plays the Bengals at this point of the season is a must play defensively in fantasy.
