The B-Team - Week 10

Someday I will hit the 100 point goal again, but that someday is not today. We had some big performances last week but a combined 9.2 fantasy points from our two runningbacks and our flex play laying an egg, we were still short of our goal. It’s hard for the B-Team with our current run of runningback performances. We’ll continue to surge on and hope to hit that goal again this season. Let’s see if Week 10 is that week for us!

This is a series where I construct a hypothetical fantasy football lineup using players that are owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The goal of the series is to top 100 PPR fantasy points using the make-shift team. The premise is to show that there is readily available value at all times across most waiver wires. You can find last week’s results below.

Jimmy Garappolo may hadn’t been able to beat the Arizona Cardinals’ B-Team, but he did score over 20 fantasy points. Derrick Gore fell back to earth after this big Week 8 with just 2.9 points. Carlos Hyde started in the Jaguars’ surprise victory over the Buffalo Bills but didn’t do much enroute to 6.3 fantasy points. Van Jefferson Jr. caught three-of-seven targets for 41 yards. Rashod Bateman caught six balls for 80 yards. Pat Friermuth continues to impress with a big Monday Night Football performance, scoring two touchdowns. Bryan Edwards didn’t score a single fantasy point and the Las Vegas Raiders’ defense put up six fantasy points.

Week 9 Results

Jimmy Garappolo (San Francisco 49ers) - 20.34 points

Derrick Gore (Kansas City Chiefs) - 2.9 points

Carlos Hyde (Jacksonville Jaguars) - 6.3 points

Van Jefferson Jr. (Los Angeles Rams) - 7.1 points

Rashod Bateman (Baltimore Ravens) - 14 points

Pat Freiermuth (Pittsburgh Steelers) - 21.3 points

Bryan Edwards (Las Vegas Raiders) - 0 points

Las Vegas Raiders - 6 points

Total: 77.94 points

Week 10 Lineup

Quarterback

Taylor Heinicke (Washington Football Team) - Owned in 15% of Yahoo and 14.4% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: vs. TB

I’m not in love with any of these less than 40-percent owned quarterbacks, so I’ll go with the Washington Football Team’s guy. He’s thrown for at least 248 yards in four of his last five games and gets the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week, who have allowed the ninth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Let’s hope that Heinicke can score more than one touchdown this week, as he’s passed for just one in the past three games.

Runningbacks

Rhamondre Stevenson (New England Patriots) - Owned in 17% of Yahoo and 9.9% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: vs. CLE

I’m taking a gamble here. It’s reported that Rhamodre Stevenson has cleared concussion protocol and will play in the Patriots’ Week 10 tilt with the Browns. Stevenson is fresh off his best game of his career. He ran the ball 10 times for 60 yards and caught two passes for 44 yards. The Patriots will also be without their top rusher in Damien Harris, leaving Stevenson and Bolden to carry the load. Let’s hope it’s more Stevenson than Bolden.

Boston Scott (Philadelphia Eagles) - Owned in 33% of Yahoo and 37.7% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: @DEN

This Eagles’ backfield is a gamble. Will we see another great performance out of Jordan Howard or will the likes of Kenneth Gainwell step back up into the limelight? One thing we can count on is that Boston Scott will be involved in the game in one way or another. He’s arguably the most versatile of the healthy backs with his pass catching abilities. He’s seen 12 and 10 rushing attempts over the last two weeks respectively. I’d like to see another double-digit carry week for Scott.

Wide Receivers

Zach Pascal (Indianapolis Colts) - Owned in 7% of Yahoo and 8% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: vs. JAX

Zach Pascal takes a little hit with T.Y. Hilton slated to play this week, but not enough to keep him out of the B-Team. Pascal has seen at least six targets over the last three games. With the way Carson Wentz has been playing as of late and the Colts’ team as a whole, I think this could be a big week for Pascal and company. They get the Jaguars, who have allowed the eighth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Russell Gage (Atlanta Falcons) - Owned in 26% of Yahoo and 23% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: @DAL

Russell Gage is starting to become a bit of a regular here on the B-Team. He’s played several weeks already and is slotting into our Week 10 lineup. Gage has seen at least six targets in the four games he’s played this season. On top of that, the Falcons get the Cowboys, who have allowed the ninth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. If the Falcons want to keep pace with this high flying Dallas’ offense, they’ll have to throw the ball early and often. Gage should be heavily involved this week.

Tight End

Dan Arnold (Jacksonville Jaguars) - Owned in 26% of Yahoo and 26.1% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: @IND

Dan Arnold has quietly become one of Trevor Lawrences’ favorite targets. Over his last two outings with the Seahawks and Bills, Arnold has seen 17 targets. Before that, he’s seen a combined 30 in his last four games. There’s no denying this type of production. Here at the B-Team, volume is a premium and Arnold is giving us some crazy volume right now.

Flex

Donovan Peoples-Jones (Cleveland Browns) - Owned in 29% of Yahoo and 17.% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: @NE

Post Odell Beckham Jr. life in Cleveland continues as they take on the New England Patriots. The biggest benefactor of OBJs absence is Peoples-Jones, who’s a big play waiting to happen. In his first game without OBJ a week ago, He caught two-of-three targets for 86 yards and a score. Over the last three games he’s played, he’s averaging five targets, four receptions, 86 yards and a touchdown. We need this type of boom here to have success on the B-Team!

Defense

Green Bay Packers - Owned in 32% of Yahoo and 33.2% of ESPN leagues

Week 10 Matchup: vs. SEA

This pick would be much better if Russell Wilson did not defy the odds and is slated to return from a broken finger that required surgery. He was originally expected to miss at least six weeks but will return after missing just four. Even with Wilson, I like the Packers’ defense this week. They’re playing good football as of late, allowing at most 22 points since Week four and allowing just 21 and 13 points to the likes of the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs respectively over the last two weeks.
