Streamable Defenses - Week 14

https://www.titansonline.com/news/titans-win-wild-one-vs-chargers-23-20

This may have been my worst overall week I’ve had here on the streamable defenses series the entire season. I knew I was getting too comfortable with the New York Jets. I was starting to trust Sam Darnold and then got on their defense’s wagon. Well I rode that wagon into the ground this week as my top streaming option scored just two fantasy points, against the winless Bengals. The Carolina Panthers were also a shoe-in against Dwayne Haskins and Washington, but they only managed six points. Then the Cardinals didn’t manage to score a single point. I know, I’m disappointed in myself as well. I’ll do better for you guys this week, as this is the first week of the fantasy football playoffs.

The Streamable Defenses of the Week article drops every Tuesday night on our website (www.weknowfantasy.com.) We feature three defenses that are owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues and at least one of those defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of leagues. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.

Week 13 Results

New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals - 2 points

Carolina Panthers vs. Washington - 6 points

Arizona Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Rams - 0 points

Week 14 Streamable Defenses

Tennessee Titans at Oakland Raiders - Owned in 30% of Yahoo and 31.2% of ESPN leagues

As you’ll read later on in this article, there aren’t many super high ceiling match-ups in terms of streamable defenses for this week. However, if there is to be one, it’s this match-up right here. The Titans’ defense is fresh off of a dominating performance over the Indianapolis Colts and the Raiders’ offense is fresh off an embarrassing performance against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Titans’ defense just posted 20 fantasy points against the Colts, forcing three turnovers while scoring a defensive touchdown and holding them to 17 points. The Raiders allowed the Chiefs’ defense to post 22 fantasy points and only mustered nine points in a game where if they won, they would have taken over the AFC West. I think it’s a perfect storm here as the Titans are playing great football down the stretch and the Raiders are starting to fall apart.

Indianapolis Colts at Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Owned in 27% of Yahoo and 2.8% of ESPN leagues

Sadly, streaming options are not the greatest for this opening week of the fantasy football playoffs. There aren’t many match-ups with very high ceiling, but we do have this Colts-Buccaneers match-up that has a high floor. The Colts’ defense has topped seven fantasy points in seven of their last eight games. In six of those games, they topped eight points. The Buccaneers have also given up the sixth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Jameis Winston is also throwing 1.67 interceptions per game, as he is on pace for 27 this season. Jameis also averages a fumble per game as well.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers - Owned in 8% of Yahoo and 6.5% of ESPN leagues

The last time these two teams squared off, the Falcons’ defense posted a season-high 26 fantasy points. Now, the Falcons are playing host to the Panthers in the first game in the post Ron Rivera era. The Panthers have obviously called it a wrap on the season and are ready to ride it out. Kyle Allen has come back down to earth after his hot start to the season and has not been playing well as of late. Allen threw four interceptions in that last meet-up with the Panthers as well. Christian McCaffrey will obviously have his day as there is no stopping that man. This is obviously a gamble, but in deep leagues, where options are limited, the Falcons could have a repeat of Week 11.
