It was another one of those ho-hum weeks of the Streamable Defenses of the Week in Week 14. All three of our suggestions failed to top five points. That’s simply not going to cut it. On paper, there were some good matchups but that’s why fantasy football is just as much a game of chance as it is a game of skill. The playoffs are here, it’s time to lock in and hit some home runs for Week 14!
I’m one to never invest a high draft stock into team defenses. I play the waiver wire every single week to find my D/ST for the upcoming week. Due to this, I find myself never drafting a defense and waiting for just before the start of Week 1 to grab my first defense of the season. This is where this series comes into play. Every week I will be suggesting my favorite three team defenses that are regularly available on waiver wires across most formats. I will also keep a running total of how my selections measure up across the season below.
The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to as many fantasy players as possible. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.
The Houston Texans were our top suggestion who posted five fantasy points against the New York Jets. The Texans allowed 30 points to the Jets in a one sided loss while recording four sacks and a fumble recovery. The Green Bay Packers were our middle suggestion who posted four fantasy points against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. They allowed 24 points in the loss while recording two fumble recoveries. The Carolina Panthers were our less than ten-percent owned suggestion and they posted just three fantasy points while allowing 22 points, one sack and an interception.

Week 15 Suggestions
Los Angeles Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders - Owned in 31% of Yahoo and 22.8% of ESPN Leagues
The Raiders lost to the Minnesota Vikings 3-0 last week. That wasn’t a typo. They failed to score a single point and couldn’t beat a team that scored just three. The Chargers are not a great defense but when they play bad offenses, they show up. In Week 13 they scored 17 fantasy points against the Patriots. In Week 9 they scored 27 fantasy points against the Jets and they scored nine points against the Bears in Week 8. This is also a Thursday Night Football game, which always allows for poor play. The Raiders have also allowed the eighth most fantasy points to opposing defenses on the season.
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Minnesota Vikings - Owned in 26% of Yahoo and 13.3% of ESPN Leagues
The Minnesota Vikings are a mess right now. They scored just three points against the Raiders last week. In that game, Joshua Dobbs was benched for the likes of Nick Mullens. It’s unclear what the Vikings will be doing at quarterback moving forward but with Dobbs’ recent poor form and the potential use of Mullens, it’s not a good look. The Vikings have also allowed the tenth most fantasy points to opposing defenses on the season and those numbers include the big early weeks when Kirk Cousins was healthy.
Chicago Bears at Cleveland Browns - Owned in 5% of Yahoo and 3.8% of ESPN Leagues
With Dorian Thompson-Robinson back this week, the Browns have moved Joe Flacco to their practice squad. I personally believe that’s better news for the Bears’ defense. This Bears’ defense has been playing great as of late. They post back-to-back weeks of 14 fantasy points scored against the Lions and Vikings. They also scored nine against the Lions in Week 11 and seven against the Panthers in Week 10. The Browns have also allowed the seventh most fantasy points to opposing defenses on the season.
