I was forced to take a week off last week due to undergoing a major medical procedure. Therefore, I don’t have any results from last week as I simply didn’t have any suggestions. To keep things rolling, I averaged out my season long results to keep the standings going. I’m back for Week 12 so let’s see what we have in store for us below!
I’m one to never invest a high draft stock into team defenses. I play the waiver wire every single week to find my D/ST for the upcoming week. Due to this, I find myself never drafting a defense and waiting for just before the start of Week 1 to grab my first defense of the season. This is where this series comes into play. Every week I will be suggesting my favorite three team defenses that are regularly available on waiver wires across most formats. I will also keep a running total of how my selections measure up across the season below.
The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to as many fantasy players as possible. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.
Overall Results
Top Suggestions - 93 Points (D/ST4)
Middle Suggestion - 82 Points (D/ST10)
Less than 10% Owned - 86 Points (D/ST8)
Week 12 Suggestions
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants (Owned in 14% of Yahoo and 9.2% of ESPN Leagues)
The New York Giants have announced that they are benching Daniel Jones in favor of Tommy DeVito. Let’s be honest, Tommy DeVito is not better than Daniel Jones. Sure, the team may play a bit motivated behind the fan favorite but the move does not make them a better football team. The Giants have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing defenses through the first 11 weeks of the season.
Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys (Owned in 22% of Yahoo and 28.4% of ESPN Leagues)
The Dallas Cowboys are in a world of hurt. With each week, there’s hope that something will click. However, that simply hasn’t happened yet and I don’t think it’s going to. To this point, they’ve allowed the fifth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Commanders’ defense is far from anything special but this matchup is ideal. If you want to compile this pickup into Week 13, the Commanders get the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing defenses on the season.
Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks (Owned in 4% of Yahoo and 2% of ESPN Leagues)
The Cardinals are in prime position to claim the NFC West. They have also been one of the better defenses as of late, posting back-to-back 12 fantasy point performances against the Bears and Jets. Now fresh off their bye week, they’ll play the divisional foe Seattle, who have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. A win this week would put the Cardinals in control of the NFC West, so they’ll play motivated.
