Streamable Defenses of the Week - Week 10

After back-to-back big weeks from our middle and under ten percent owned suggestions, we’re making some big strides. We’ve moved past our top suggestion with our middle suggestion after Week 9 as both now would be the DST5. Our under ten percent owned suggestions has moved into the top 20 after being the last place DST just two weeks ago. It’s great that two of our suggestions are top five DSTs. I’d like to hit some big performances with the top suggestion to get back into DST1 contention.

If you’re anything like me, you don’t draft a defense, or wait until your very last pick. I always find it more important to use earlier selections on position players as you can find great value on the waiver wire each week for defenses. I will also keep a running total of my top, second and below 10-percent results and provide a ranking of where my results rank according to other defenses throughout the season.

The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to every fantasy player. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.

The formerly first place Las Vegas Raiders lost a game to the New York Giants, tallying six fantasy points along the way. They allowed 17 points while recording three sacks and recovering a fumble. The Houston Texans continue to allow opposing defenses to score a ton of fantasy points as the Miami Dolphins’ defense put up 17 fantasy points. They allowed just nine points while recording five sacks, three interceptions and a fumble recovery. The New York Giants flipped the script on the Raiders, allowing 16 points while sacking Derek Carr once, intercepting him twice, recording a fumble and scoring a touchdown enroute to 14 fantasy points.

Week 9 Results

Las Vegas Raiders at New York Giants - 6 points

Miami Dolphins vs. Houston Texans - 17 points

New York Giants vs. Las Vegas Raiders - 14 points

Overall Results

Top Suggestions - 72 points (DST5)

Middle Suggestions - 73 points (DST5)

Under 10% Owned - 49 points (DST19)

Week 10 Suggestions

Tennessee Titans vs. New Orleans Saints - Owned in 12% of Yahoo and 8% of ESPN leagues

This Titans’ team as a whole is hot right now. Not only are they on a five game winning streak, their defense has been a fantasy gem along the way. Across the last three weeks, the Titans’ defense has scored at least 12 fantasy points in each of them. They’re fresh off a complete dismantling of the powerful Los Angeles Rams and are just a few weeks removed from allowing just three points to Patrick Mahomes as the Kansas City Chiefs. They get the Trevor Siemian or Taysom Hill led Saints this week. Either way, it’s a good matchup for the AFC South leaders.

Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks - Owned in 27% of Yahoo and 28% of ESPN leagues

This pick would be much better if Russell Wilson did not defy the odds and is slated to return from a broken finger that required surgery. He was originally expected to miss at least six weeks but will return after missing just four. Even with Wilson, I like the Packers’ defense this week. They’re playing good football as of late, allowing at most 22 points since Week four and allowing just 21 and 13 points to the likes of the Arizona Chiefs and Kansas City Chiefs respectively over the last two weeks. Even with Geno Smith at the helm, Seattle hasn’t allowed many fantasy points to opposing defenses but with few options this week, you could do worse than the Packers

Philadelphia Eagles at Denver Broncos - Owned in 7% of Yahoo and 8.7% of ESPN leagues

It’s hard to predict what Denver team will show up this week. Will it be the Broncos’ team that took down the Dallas Cowboys last week or the one that put up a combined 31 points against the Browns and Washington Football team the two weeks before? Thus far this season, the Broncos have not been able to put together back-to-back impressive performances. Therefore, after taking down the Cowboys, maybe they won’t show up against the Eagles. We hit big with the Eagles as our under 10-percent owned suggestion two weeks ago when they put up 21 fantasy points against the Lions. Let’s hope we get a repeat of that performance this week.
