Streamable Defense of the Week - Week 10

Once again time wasn’t on my side last week and I was unable to get a Week 9 edition of the Streamable Defenses of the Week out. For a second time, I took our results up to Week 8 and used the averages per scoring category and added it to our total so we could continue the total count. Let’s see what Week 10 has in store!

I’m one to never invest a high draft stock into team defenses. I play the waiver wire every single week to find my D/ST for the upcoming week. Due to this, I find myself never drafting a defense and waiting for just before the start of Week 1 to grab my first defense of the season. This is where this series comes into play. Every week I will be suggesting my favorite three team defenses that are regularly available on waiver wires across most formats. I will also keep a running total of how my selections measure up across the season below.

The premise of this article is to bring forth three streamable defenses that fantasy football players should look to use for that respective week. To qualify for this series, defenses must be owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. At least one of the suggested defenses will be owned in less than 10-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues to cater to every fantasy player. You can find last week’s results below and previous week’s results at the bottom of this article.

Overall Results

Top Suggestion - 70 Points (DST9)

Middle Suggestion - 45 points (DST27)

Under 10-Percent Owned - 81 Points (DST4)

Week 10 Suggestions

Tennessee Titans vs. Denver Broncos (Owned in 24% of Yahoo and 16% of ESPN Leagues)

The Tennessee Titans are playing some good football as of late and played the Kansas City Chiefs close on Sunday Night Football a week ago. They haven’t allowed a team to score more than 22 points dating back to Week 2 and prior to allowing 20 points to the Chiefs, held the Colts and Texans to ten points a piece. On top of that they have recorded at least three sacks in five consecutive games. They are also averaging an interception-per-game on the season. To round it all up, the Titans play the Broncos this week, who have allowed the eighth most fantasy points to opposing defenses.

Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams (Owned in 22% of Yahoo and 12.3% of ESPN Leagues)

This pick is nearly exclusive to the fact that the Rams have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing defenses. The Cardinals are a defense that will allow a decent amount of points but have big play potential written all over them. They have forced a turnover in four consecutive games as well. A good matchup for an average defense with big play potential is exactly what this series is about.

New York Giants vs. Houston Texans (Owned in 11% of Yahoo and 5.6% of ESPN Leagues)

First off, yes the Giants are owned in over 10-percent of Yahoo leagues but the difference in ownership between Yahoo and ESPN allows me to use them. It’s that or the fact that I make the rules. Either way, the Texans have allowed the 12th most fantasy points to opposing defenses. On top of that, the most points the Giants have allowed all season was 27 and that was two weeks ago prior to their bye. A rested and more healthy team can be expected coming into Week 10.
