Fantasy Hockey: Week 8 Waiver Wire

This week we bring you a few players that have been on fire recently. We know the ups and downs fantasy hockey brings throughout the season, but we are confident this week’s forwards will make an instant impact and our defenseman can be a spot start week-to-week. Our goalie choice is one that is a must for teams rostering his struggling teammate.

Alex Tuch, LW/RW, Vegas Golden Knights

Yahoo: 39% Owned

Week 8: @MIN, @MIN, @STL & @STL

I’m not sure how a player eligible at two forward positions, with eight goals, one assist and a plus-five in his last seven games is rostered in less than 40-percent of yahoo leagues. Tuch is red hot and playing big minutes for the Golden Knights, averaging over 17:00 minutes-per-a-game. Tuch is an instant add and worth a top waiver claim at this point.

Max Comtous, LW/RW, Anaheim Ducks

Yahoo: 32% Owned

Week 8: vs. LAK, vs. LAK, vs. SJS & vs. SJS

Comtous has two goals, five assists, plus-five and 17 shots on goal in the last six games he has played. He has been rewarded by going from 14:00 minutes-per-game to over 17:00 the last two games. Comtous is averaging nearly three shots a game. Again, that is nice opportunity in any lineup.

Noah Dobson, D, New York Islanders

Yahoo: 9% Owned

Week 8: vs. BOS, @NJD, @NJD & @NJD

In a season where it has been hard to find quality defensemen from the waiver wire, I give you a guy that is probably not rostered in your league but has played well recently. Dobson has one goal, two assists, plus-five and seven shots on goal in his last three games. While I don’t think Dobson is a key piece to hold, he does play four games in Week 8 and has played well as of late.

Brian Elliott, G, Philadelphia Flyers

Yahoo: 32% Owned

Week 8: vs. BUF, vs. WSH & vs. WSH

Adding Elliott is more of a must add for Carter Hart owners. Hart hasn’t looked good as of late and the time of this article being prepared he is facing the Capitals. Elliot is 3-1 in his last four starts with a combined 94 saves and one shutout. I’m still not sure how the goalie situation plays out in Philly, but if you are a Hart owner, it’s time to invest in that insurance policy.
