B-Team - Week 14

https://www.thephinsider.com/the-splash-zone-miami-dolphins-news/2019/9/6/20850939/the-splash-zone-9-6-19-ryan-fitzpatrick-can-make-history-on-sunday-miami-dolphins-josh-rosen

Now I know last week I said it hurt when I fell just 2.6 fantasy points shy of my 100 fantasy point goal, but this week, I think it hurts even more than that. I scored a whopping 94.22 fantasy points. Now that’s a good stat line and a great effort on my end, there's no doubt about that. The issue is, I did this, I fell 5.78 fantasy points shy of my goal, with my quarterback scoring negative points. That’s right, I started Nick Foles who posted a massive -0.98 points. I could have started nearly any other option and I would have topped 100 fantasy points. Man, does that grind my gears. This B-Team series sees us construct a hypothetical fantasy football lineup consisting of players owned in less than 40-percent of Yahoo and/or ESPN leagues. The goal of the series is to top 100 fantasy points with the made-up team. The purpose is to show that there is regularly available value on the waiver wire at almost all times.

We had some massive performances last week that helped fuel our great week. It was actually our tight end who lead the way for us as Tyler Higbee posted 23.7 fantasy points. James Washington of the Pittsburgh Steelers came through with another 21.1 fantasy points and Benny Snell Jr. added 13.7 fantasy points. Actually, our lowest scoring fantasy performance of the week was the Denver Broncos’ defense who scored eight points. Outside of Nick Foles, who again, was one of the biggest disappointments in the history of the B-Team, the team as a whole had a fantastic week. You can see how I did last week below and how I’ve performed in previous weeks at the bottom of this article.

Week 13 Results

QB: Nick Foles (Jacksonville Jaguars) - -0.98 points

RB: Darrel Williams (Kansas City Chiefs) - 8.6 points

RB: Benny Snell Jr. (Pittsburgh Steelers) - 13.7 points

WR: Chris Conley (Jacksonville Jaguars) - 9.7 points

WR: James Washington (Pittsburgh Steelers) - 21.1 points

TE: Tyler Higbee (Los Angeles Rams) - 23.7 points

Flex: Darius Slayton (New York Giants) - 10.4 points

Def: Denver Broncos - 8 points

Total: 94.22 points

Week 14 Picks

Quarterback

Ryan Fitzpatrick (Miami Dolphins) - Owned in 23% of Yahoo and 14.4% of ESPN leagues

Fitzmagic is back. The sensation that took the fantasy football community by storm to start the 2018 season is back. Over the past two games against the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles, Fitzpatrick has posted back-to-back games of 25.06 and 27.80 fantasy points. In his most recent outing, against the Eagles, he threw for 365 yards and three touchdowns. He now gets the New York Jets, who has allowed the 16th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Look for Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins to put on another show this week.

Running Backs

https://www.newyorkjets.com/news/don-t-call-it-a-comeback-jets-sign-rb-bilal-powell

Bilal Powell (New York Jets) - Owned in 11% of Yahoo and 0.6% of ESPN leagues

Le’Veon Bell has been ruled out for Sunday’s game with the Miami Dolphins due to illness. This will open up the door for Blial Powell and Ty Montgomery to split the work. I believe Powell to get the majority of the work, as he has seen more work over the season thus far over Montgomery. The Dolphins have allowed the sixth most fantasy points to opposing running backs as well.

Patrick Laird (Miami Dolphins) - Owned in 18% of Yahoo and 10.1% of ESPN leagues

Laird came out of nowhere last week to now become the starting back for the Miami Dolphins. Last week against the very tough Philadelphia Eagles’ running defense, he ran the ball 10 times and only managed five yards. A rushing touchdown did salvage his day. He added five reception and 43 yards through the air. The Jets have actually allowed the 10th fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. I’m not expecting much but going for more of the volume here in Laird than anything.

Wide Receivers

Zach Pascal (Indianapolis Colts) - Owned in 32% of Yahoo and 29.2% of ESPN leagues

I love Zach Pascal this week and he’ll be heavily featured in my lineups in both re-draft and DFS. T.Y. Hilton remains out for the Colts but rookie Parris Campbell will return. Campbell doesn’t do much for Pascal’s value however. He still will remain the top option and receiver for Jacoby Brissett. The Colts get the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

James Washington (Pittsburgh Steelers) - Owned in 38% of Yahoo and 32.2% of ESPN leagues

The fact that James Washington is still owned in less than 40-percent of leagues is mind blowing. I couldn’t help myself in using him for a second straight week after he posted a 21.1 fantasy point week last week, helping me get to 94.22 total fantasy points. JuJu Smith-Schuster is out again this week, keeping James Washington as the Steelers’ and Delvin Hodges’ top receiver. James Conner too remains out, which will keep the Steelers going through the air more. The Cardinals have also given up the third most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Tight End

Tyler Higbee (Los Angeles Rams) - Owned in 18% of Yahoo and 8.5% of ESPN leagues

Higbee will be my second repeat from a week ago. Last week he went off against the porous Arizona Cardinals’ defense that is horrible against the tight-end and have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Luckily for us, he gets the Seattle Seahawks this week who have allowed the second most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Gerald Everett will miss this week’s game with a knee injury, leaving Higbee as the three-down tight-end for the Rams once again.

Flex

Darius Slayton (New York Giants) - Owned in 25% of Yahoo and 31.1% of ESPN leagues

This is a rather risky move. Slayton and Eli Manning have little-to-no history playing together. Eli also hasn’t been on the field since early in the season, obviously, when he wasn’t playing well and the Giants made the switch to the rookie Daniel Jones. But, over the last three weeks, Slayton has seen 30 targets, that’s volume we can’t ignore. The Giants get the Eagles this week, who have allowed the fifth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Defense

Tennessee Titans - Owned in 34% of Yahoo and 32.5% of ESPN leagues

This match-up here for the Titans’ defense against the Oakland Raiders has a high ceiling written all over it. The Titans’ defense is fresh off of a dominating performance against the Indianapolis Colts where they forced three turnovers and scored a defensive touchdown enroute to a 20 fantasy point day. The Raiders were embarrassed by the Chiefs as they allowed their defense to post 22 fantasy points and only mustered nine total points.
